Strengthening the Indo-Japanese Relation to a new high

Japan always stood as a "Special" friend to India. Cultural exchanges between India and Japan date back to the 6th century with the introduction of Buddhism to Japan from India, via China and Korea. Indian monk Bodhisena went over to Japan in 736AD to spread Buddhism. During World War 2, Japan helped Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose to form "Azad Hind Fauj" (Indian National Army). Later, Mr. Radhabinod Pal was appointed as one of three Asian judges appointed to the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, the "Tokyo Trials". Among all the judges of the tribunal, he was the only one who submitted a judgment which insisted all defendants were not guilty. India-Japan diplomatic relation was established in 1952. Back in 80s and 90s when India opened up for foreign companies, Japanese conglomerates specially the high tech automotive companies opened JV in India. Among them Hero Honda, Kawasaki Bajaj, Hyderabad Allwyn-Nissan, TVS-Suzuki, Mitsubishi-Hindustan Motors, Toyota Kirloskar, Tata Hitachi, Maruti Suzuki, Escort-Yamaha are some predominant names. The JV of Toyota-Kirloskar, Tata Hitachi and Maruti Suzuki still existed today. Maruti Suzuki is India's highest selling car brand. Even the companies which separated became self reliant as Hero MotoCorp is World's largest 2-wheeler manufacturer, Bajaj owned 48% stake of Europe's leading Motorbike maker KTM AG and TVS owned Britain's iconic motorbike brand Norton. As of Oct 2018, 1441 Japanese companies have been registered in India, up from 267 in 2006. Indian companies today opened offices in Japan likes of TCS Japan (JV between TCS and Mitsubishi Corp), Infosys, Dr. Reddy's, Aurobindo Pharma, HCL, Genpact etc. Japan's fintech app PayPay is a JV between SoftBank Group, Yahoo Japan and India's leading fintech app PayTM. Indian steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal led World's largest crude steel producer ArcelorMittal and Japan's Nippon Steel formed JV and entered India in 2019. During Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori’s August 2000 India visit, the two nations established the “Global Partnership”. During Prime Minister A. B. Vajpayee’s visit to Japan in December 2001, he and his Japanese counterpart Junichiro Koizumi signed “Japan-India Joint Declaration”. Japan also helped India enormously in infra projects. Majority among 20 of India's under construction and under expansion Metro Railway projects are backed by JICA. JICA has extended cumulative total of more than JP¥ 1.2 trillion of ODA loans for India's Metro projects. India's Bullet Train project is also financed by Japan. Animes and Mangas are highly appreciated to India. Indian films like "3 Idiots", "Baahubali" are widely accepted in Japan. We would like to thank former PM Shinzo Abe and Late Padma Bhushan Saichiro Misumi for strengthening the India-Japan relation. Arigato Japan for standing by India as a "True friend".
